[INFOGRAPHIC] A Guide to Commercial Immigration Law

With the Government announcing yet another crackdown on illegal immigration, UK Employers are being urged to make sure that they are thorough when carrying out the relevant checks before employing migrants.

Employing illegal immigrants carries severe consequences for both the employer and the employee in accordance with section 15 of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006; Workers can expect to be arrested, detained and ultimately deported, while businesses can find themselves with a notice of liability and a fine of up to £20,000 per illegal worker.

Immigration Minister James Brokenshire commented about his concerns over the working conditions that illegal immigrants would be subjected to, “Experience tells us that employers who are prepared to cheat unemployment rules are also likely to breach health and safety rules and pay insufficient tax”.

The infographic below helps shed some much needed light on the aspects of commercial law surrounding the employment of migrants.
