5 Questions To Ask Before You Choose Your Office Space

Congratulations! There comes a time when every business owner has to make the big decision and think about expanding. As you are sat there reading my blog, I imagine the time has finally arrived. In my book, expansion is the key to success. Without it, you will stay stagnant at the same point in time and move nowhere. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t pitfalls to moving into office space. Over the years, I have heard a lot of sob stories about people who made certain mistakes and paid the ultimate price. If you don’t want to do the same, ask yourself these questions.

  1.    Is It The Right Move?

First and foremost, you have to make sure that you are ready. By that, I don’t mean that you feel ready or you think you are ready. I mean you have hard evidence to back up your suspicions. Your previous sales figures and your projected profit margins for the future will tell you whether you can sustain a move or not.

  1.    Is There Room To Grow?

Okay, you are ready to move and you are in the market for the perfect office space. What you don’t want to do, however, is make a decision purely based on your present situation. At the moment, you are still a work in progress and you still have masses of potential for growth. That means, if you manage your situation correctly, you will get bigger over time. Does your office space have enough room for the future? Some companies get to the point where they need more space but don’t have the resources to move, which is the last place you want to be.

  1.    Can I Cut The Cost And Keep The Quality?

The cynical among you will say that there is no substitute for quality, and you are right. In fact, it is almost impossible to find quality office space at affordable rates. However, the key phrase is almost impossible because it can be done. One of the best alternatives is to rent or buy already furnished office space. 1.    How Important Is The Location?

The answer to that question is that the location is very important. Your business’ location has an effect on both your clients and your employees. If it is too far out of the way, both parties struggle. Employees struggle with the commute and that can affect their work. And clients struggle to travel long distances just to discuss a possible business partnership. You need to be in the hub of the action to build a reputable and desirable brand. None of the biggest firms in the world have office space on an industrial estate outside of London.

  1.    How Secure Is The Office?

Safety is a massive concern. Both your business and your employees are at risk if the safety standards are not met. Look outside at the gates and the fences. Also, check whether they use CCTV and alarm systems.

I believe you will have a better chance of making a successful transition if you take care of these details first.
