And given advances in online education, chances are you can find that course online. While you will, of course, have to pay for certifications and degree programmes, there are also low-cost or even free training programmes.

ITPRO

This expansive IT course library featured a number of live, entertaining broadcasts in a talk show format on a range of subjects. You can learn Cisco, CompTIA, Adobe Creative Cloud and even how to build a PC. Whether you want to assemble a computer from scratch, learn video editing or desktop publishing, or write your first line of code, ITPRO.TV is one source you should look into. If you need to train an entire team, there are provisions for online group training.

Coursera

Coursera also has a large selection of courses. They are all taught by instructors from some of the world’s leading universities and institutions. Course delivery includes recorded lectures, assignment and discussion forums.

You can learn cloud computing, networking, data management, security or technical support fundamentals, among other areas. You can take four to six-week short courses, four to six-month specializations or full degrees. Many classes are free to attend although you will have to pay if you want a certificate as proof that you completed the course.

Khan Academy

This is another option of online courses. Khan Academy is especially helpful if you just want to get an overview of topics. Many of the tutorials are in short bite-sized episodes so you can take your time and learn at your pace. You can also learn some forms of coding in just one hour. If you’re not really sure coding is for you, this is the perfect way to start.

edX

edX offers a range of courses with material that is supported by universities, professors, and industry experts. There is no need to apply; you can just sign up and begin taking classes. You can take many of the classes at times that are convenient for you and you canenroll from any date. You can learn programming languages, artificial intelligence, big data and more. Some classes are free but if you’ll need credentials, you’ll have to pay a fee for the verified certificate. eDX allows you to receive credit for college applications or gain professional experience.
