Business Startup Ideas 2016: Door-To-Door Cleaning Company

Something I’ve noticed lately is that families tend to be a lot busier than they once were. Almost every family used to conform to the typical roles set out. You had the dad, who went out and worked. And the mum, who stayed at home and took care of the kids and house. Nowadays, more and more women are working full time, and it means families are getting busier. There isn’t one of the parents at home to tidy up and look after the house. So, many family homes can become messy and in need of a clean. To save time and effort, lots of families will hire a cleaning company to come round once a week and give their house a clean. As a result, we’re seeing more and more cleaning companies pop up and start making big bucks.

Do I think it’s a good idea to start a cleaning company in 2016? No, I think it’s a great idea! There’s lots of money to be made, and it’s a straightforward business to start up. If this idea interests you, then feel free to use some of my advice below to help you out:

Get A Business Fleet

With a cleaning company, you’ll be going door-to-door and cleaning houses. To do this, you’ll need a vehicle, preferably a van so you can store all your cleaning equipment in it. And, you’ll need employees to help you clean quickly and efficiently. Now, you could hire a small selection of staff and go around cleaning as one group. However, I suggest you hire lots of staff, and provide them with vans to clean multiple houses at once. To do this, you need a business fleet. Of course, you need to ensure you take good care of your fleet. Purchase van tyres that will last a long time, and get the vans serviced when possible. If your fleet isn’t looked after then breakdowns or tyre punctures can occur and be bad for business. It means one van will be out of action, therefore less money is being made.

Buy Cleaning Supplies In Bulk

You’re going to need an array of cleaning supplies if you want to pursue this idea. If you look at the price of the things you need, it seems like a lot of money. But, you can save your business a chunk of cash if you buy things in bulk. Bulk buying is a foolproof way to get a load of supplies while saving money at the same time. Bulk cleaning supplies are easy to get your hands on too; any wholesale store will sell them. And, you can probably find some online too, that might be a little cheaper as well.

Differentiate From The Competition

I mentioned at the start of this piece that there are loads of cleaning companies popping up. Now, this is both a good and bad thing. It’s good because it means this idea is clearly good, as lots of people are trying to do it. But, this means you’ll have lots of competition. What you need to do is find ways to differentiate yourself from others. Try and come up with something that can make your company stand out. Perhaps you should offer services that others don’t. Or, get the state of the art cleaning equipment and brag about it. Do whatever you can to make all the other cleaning companies look average.

Promote Your Business

All business startups need to be promoted well. Otherwise, your company will sink before it even has a chance to try and float. With a cleaning business, there are numerous marketing techniques you can use here. Believe it or not, but the most effective ones are simple and traditional. Post your business cards or leaflets through people’s doors. Or, go and knock on the doors and talk about your service. After all, your business is aimed at families, so these are great ways to get to your audience. Of course, you should also build a website and use social media to spread the word and build brand recognition.
So, think about all of this advice if you want to try out this business idea. I predict it will bring a great deal of success as the world is full of busy, working, families. People want a clean house, but they don’t have time to clean it themselves anymore. So, cleaning companies can swoop in and clean up all the money.
